Alfa Romeo 156 Twin Spark 'Veloce' - 2002 Ideal for restoration/repair!!! Please Note :- Due to 2 time wasters in a row, any bidders with a score of under 10 will have their bid deleted unless I'm contacted first. Apologies to all sincere bidders, but experience means I need to take this action. With only 1 week until MOT expiry (13th July - tax until 31st July), we are selling our beloved 156 as she now needs another good home - and some needed but basic attention. I really don't want her to be broken up for spares - and just hope that she goes to a buyer who wants to restore her back to full health. I am starting the bidding at £200 with no reserve in the hope that she stays on the road for years to come. This is the desirable 'veloce' model (veloce means 'quick' or 'fast' in Italian) and comes with the majority of options, both inside - with a mileage of 136,361 (as at 05/07/12). Finished in silver with all black leather interior and full Alfa Romeo body styling, she is a very eye catching car indeed. Regards her condition, apart from a very minor dent on the rear offside quarter, bodily wise she is completely clean. Mechanically wise, she does need some basic work done, but nothing that a home mechanic couldn't cope with at all - details are shown below. Recently the car was taken to 'Mobitech' Alfa Romeo Specialists in Canterbury for a 'health check' and I took the opportunity to look underneath and saw that she was very clean here also. Please remember, she is 10 years old and shows natural wear and tear for a car her age though nothing out of the ordinary. Note :- This car was fully HPI checked in January of this year. How She Drives She starts first time, every time without fail and with a good tick over. Clutch and gearbox are both strong with not even a hint of play/snatch/judder/synchro crunch etc and all five gears and reverse gear engage smoothly. She accelerates strongly, takes corners beautifully (great fun!) but her brakes do need work as the discs and pads are now approaching the end of their useful life. Ride is comfortable but firm, however the front suspension does knock/rattle/squeak due to the anti-roll bar bushes/drop links needing replacement etc. Also, the nearside upper wishbone bush needs replacing, though it would be better to fit a new upper wishbone outright. However, all of these items can be easily replaced by a competent home mechanic and parts are easily available at good prices (there are many decent parts suppliers if you wish to avoid paying genuine Alfa prices). Overall This is a great car and could be an even better car once fixed up. It will need work to get her past the next MOT but once done she will be very well sorted and a truly great drive. I only require that the successful bidder :- 1) Pays £50 via Paypal within 24 hours of winning 2) Collects the car within 5 days and that it is cash on collection. I am also open to any sensible offer and reserve the right to end the auction if an acceptable offer is put forward! Car to be sold as described.
