Synopsis
Although the siege of Wake Island was not one of World War II's biggest campaigns, it had a profound psychological effect on the course of the nation's struggle. This was the battle that first raised American spirits in the dark weeks following Pearl Harbor. For sixteen suspenseful days, 449 U.S. Marines, assisted by a handful of sailors and soldiers and a few hundred civilian construction workers, withstood repeated attacks by numerically superior Japanese forces. Although Wake finally fell on 23 December 1941, its garrison made the Japanese pay an embarrassingly high price for a tiny coral outpost. Based on interviews with over seventy American and Japanese participants, the riveting, you-are-there narrative pulsates with the crack of rifles, the stutter of machine guns, the roar of cannon, and the concussion of bombs. This is a military history from the bottom up, an unforgettable reading experience told from the perspective of enlisted men and junior officers who served on the front lines.

- 1***t (36)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufItem arrived quicker than expected and packaged better than anything I've ever purchased from eBay. Everything was exactly as described and this is the perfect addition to my mini arcade collection which I've been looking for a MK machine. The listing did state free shipping and eBay was charging but I contacted seller before purchase and shipping fees were refunded immediately after purchase. I would highly recommend this seller and will definitely be willing to purchase from again.Arcade1Up Mortal Kombat Collectorcade 1 Player Console 13" Tall Mini Arcade (Nr. 116619469725)

Shipped carefully and expertly packaged - I'm using all of the bubble wrap as a pillow, so it's an even better value! Thanks for having an item that is just as described and shown. I'd buy again from this seller - wait, I did!
- e***e (97)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufShipped immediately, post office took a while but that is absolutely no fault of the seller. Was packaged well and in a nice little sealed plastic bag to protect from any weather. Exactly as described, practically new, my mom collects beanie babies and July is her birthday month so she'll love this. Definitely would recommend ordering from. Great pricing too, not at all over the top.TY Beanie Baby 2001 Ruby The July Birthday Bear (Nr. 116551948756)
