Reviews
Introduction to Criminal Justice by Rennison and Dodge is one of the best books for Introduction to CJ. It is written for students who are not familiar with all the components of the criminal justice system. It also includes an instructor site that provides helpful resources for instructors. I have used this book for two semesters, and my students really seem to enjoy it., I found this text to be perfectly organized to present the criminal justice system from beginning to end in a very logical and sensible manner. It is well written at a level that will allow the student to better understand the complexities of the system., Great text. Very user friendly for both faculty and student. Awesome for the visual learner. Highly recommended!!, ...I appreciated the inclusion of diversity and felt that the current events and contemporary issues presented throughout the book were very relevant to the study of criminal justice today...Students are always appreciative of interactive components, such as audio and video, and they enjoy reading various case studies. I also really liked the images and thought that the graphics were interesting and made the content much more understandable., Students have positively evaluated the text. I think it is comprehensive without being too hard for an introductory level course. Also, I teach many students who have no background in criminal justice (non-majors). Unlike majors, most of these students have little to no knowledge of the system (knowledge perhaps gained from television and movies). This text is suitable for them also., The information is clearly laid out for students to grasp. The chapters are not too long and students should be able to easily grasp concepts. They cover important policy areas that are often ignored in other Intro texts., The contemporary issues and challenges confronting the U.S. justice system are critically and comprehensively examined in the latest edition of Introduction to Criminal Justice: Systems, Diversity, and Change. The text applies a unique lens to understanding the interconnected nature of crime and justice, the role of diversity, and how technology has changed the field of law enforcement, the courts, and the correctional system.

New to this Edition Ten new "Policy Issues" boxes show students how recent policy has impacted the field of criminal justice with discussions of crime and undocumented immigrants, training for police officers when working with individuals who are mentally ill, the fear of violence on college campuses, and more. New full-page infographics, "Data Matters: The Story in Numbers," brings data to life by breaking down complex information into accessible and interesting visuals--enabling students to better examine key issues from a clearer and more accurate perspective. Expanded discussion surrounding the legal definition of rape and how it applies to the highly publicized Brock Turner case further clarifies for students what is (and isn't) considered rape in the eyes of the law across different states. Current topics affecting today's criminal justice system encourage classroom discussion of pressing topics such as the country's changing marijuana laws, why diversity in policing has been historically low, policing technology and privacy concerns, the policies of the Trump administration, and peer courts in the juvenile justice system. Updated statistics and data are included where available, along with an acknowledgement and discussion surrounding why some FBI and NCVS data had not been updated at the time of press. SAGE course outcomes help you track and measure student success. Crafted with specific goals in mind and vetted by advisors in the field, SAGE course outcomes clearly define and benchmark the knowledge and skills students are expected to achieve upon completion of your course. I put in an offer on this book and they didn't even bother to respond to it, so I went ahead and bought it at their listed price and now a day later they just refunded it without even giving me a reason why. Absolutely no communication at all. Would not trust this seller. F-
