Having previously orchestrated a murderous rampage two years earlier in retaliation against the men who murdered his girlfriend, Jackie is no stranger to tragedy. Besieged by haunting memories of his girlfriend’s untimely death, Jackie holds an ancient and terrifying power called The Darkness within him that lies dormant at the beginning of the game. When an attempt on his life is made and an all-out war erupts in the crime world, The Darkness activates once more. Forced into the horrors of urban warfare again, Jackie embarks on a quest to discover the truth behind the attack on his life and solve the mystery behind The Darkness itself.Featuring an unorthodox gameplay style that combines supernatural abilities with traditional gun wielding, The Darkness II is an extremely violent first-person shooter game. Players can dominate and ruthlessly kill opponents by quad-wielding a variety of weapons. Equipped with two demon arms that effortlessly rip and tear through opponents, Jackie engages in fierce combat with heart-pounding action. Not limited to only wielding traditional weapons like submachine guns and assault rifles, the player can slice enemies into pieces with these terrifying tendrils. Special kill sequences feature animations like disemboweling foes by ripping out their hearts and spines. Players can also act as a relic hunter, seeking out and collecting powerful items like The Trinity, which is a blade crafted from the three nails used to crucify Jesus Christ himself. In addition, players can summon an unholy aberration known as a darkling to assist and guide Jackie Estacado throughout the game.This PlayStation 3 game also includes co-op multiplayer games known as Vendetta and Hit List in which four different gamers can combine forces to complete missions. The game offers the choice to play as four characters who each have unique abilities granted by The Darkness. With an art style that stays faithful to the original graphic novel series, the video game has a distinct aesthetic that stands out. This Limited Edition copy also comes with bonus content that includes a character ability upgrade.
