Installing the Seagate Barracuda 2TB internal hard drive is an excellent way to improve performance and increase the amount of storage capacity of any desktop computer. You can either upgrade your current 500GB or 1GB drive to the 2GB or use this as a second storage drive instead of adding an external HDD or SSD for extra storage. Use the 3.5-inch Seagate hard disk with any Windows, Mac, and Linux operating system. For more space, consider using the Seagate Barracuda 3 and 4GB internal hard drives for more space. You can store up to 400,000 10-megapixel, 5MB images; 500,000, 4-minute, 4MBmb songs; 241 HD videos in 1080i; and 123 Blu-ray movies on a 2GB hard drive. Speed through searches with the 7200 revolutions per millisecond (RPMs). This speed is up to 45 percent faster than the last Seagate series using the new OptiCache technology. The hard drive uses a 64MB cache or buffer memory to temporarily store files while it transfers data as well as basic commands for the drive. Before you install the Seagate model STBD2000101 HDD into the desktop computer, save any important information to cloud storage or an external drive. Even if you are only adding a backup drive, any damage can permanently erase files. Connect the Seagate Barracuda to the first slot if you’re replacing the drive or the second slot on the motherboard for a backup drive using the super fast SATA III. The SATA looks like a small USB connection and allows you to easily plug and play with this drive. The SATA III has a data transfer rate of 6gb/s to store and retrieve data quickly. For directions with more detail, follow the quick installation guide that comes with the drive kit. Use the Seagate Disk Wizard software to enable drives of 2TB or more on any Legacy PC BIOS. Working with Legacy computers increases the lifetime of the system, which saves on operating costs. This software also helps migrate your data from the old drive to the new drive as well as create and format any partitions for you. The Seagate Desktop 2TB HDD is an environmentally friendly hard disk. It uses a 1TB-per-disk energy-save mode that pauses the drive while it’s not being used, without restricting performance. The drive has the lowest power consumption of any earlier Seagate series while still giving top performance. This HDD follows RoHS directives on hazardous materials and uses 70 percent recyclable materials while restricting halogen compounds. With the Seagate Barracuda 2TB internal hard drive, you don’t have to sacrifice power and space to reduce your ecological footprint. This drive kit comes with the Seagate 2TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive for Desktops, mounting screws, the interface cable, a power adaptor, software, and an owner’s manual.
