The first series of Ryan Murphy's AMERICAN HORROR STORY begins as Ben (Dylan McDermott), Vivien (Connie Britton), and their daughter Violet (Taissa Farmiga) move into a restored mansion in Los Angeles after Ben's extramarital affair leaves the Harmon family in serious need of a fresh start. Their neighbor, Constance Langdon (a role which would eventually win Jessica Lange the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress), wastes no time in becoming a persistent, albeit not entirely welcome presence in their lives, as does her son, Tate (Evan Peters), who Ben believes is a sociopath. Shortly after moving in, the Harmons discover that several violent murders were committed in their new home, which locals have nicknamed The Murder House, and a series of increasingly disturbing events indicate they may be sharing their home with the restless and violent spirits of those killed. <br> The horror unfolds within the confines of an eerie insane asylum in the second series of this acclaimed thriller. Set in 1964 (with jumps to present day), the Asylum series digs into the dark pasts of the hospital's patients, doctors and administrators. Jessica Lange returns to the series as Sister Jude, a troubled nun who quickly finds herself at odds with the twisted Arthur Arden (James Cromwell), a doctor with a penchant for experimental procedures. Zachary Quinto is also back as Dr. Oliver Thredson, a psychiatrist, while Sarah Paulson plays journalist Lana Winters in her return. Other familiar faces include Evan Peters and Lily Rabe, while newcomers Lizzie Brochere, Chloe Sevigny and Joseph Fiennes provide welcome additions to the talented cast. <br> The third series of this horror anthology series is set primarily at a secret school for witches in New Orleans. After an absence in series 2, Taissa Farmiga returns to the show as Zoe Benson, a young woman who unexpectedly discovers that she possesses a dangerous supernatural ability. She's sent to the special Louisiana school, which is run by Headmistress Cordelia Foxx (Sarah Paulson), where she embarks on spell-filled adventures with fellow witches Madison Montgomery (Emma Roberts), Nan (Jamie Brewer) and Queenie (Gabourey Sidibe). Jessica Lange is also back as Fiona Goode, a powerful witch chasing eternal life, while Evan Peters plays frat boy Kyle Spencer in his return. Other familiar faces include Denis O'Hare and Lily Rabe, while newcomers Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett bring fresh excitement to the talented cast.
