Get ready to get loud. The MXR GT-OD M193 overdrive guitar effects pedal from Dunlop brings the power and punch of a tube amp turned up full blast to any volume setting. This effect comes in handy when you are recording tracks in the studio, where an amp cranked to full volume bleeds into other instruments in your session. It is also useful for live performances in smaller venues, where loud amplifiers can be undesirable. Like all overdrive pedals, the MXR GT-OD creates the sound of an “overdriven” guitar amplifier. When an amp is overdriven, the loud volume causes clipping, which adds harmonic overtones that produce a fuzzy, distorted tone. Unlike distortion and fuzz pedals, overdrive pedals have a crunchy, warm sound that mimics the natural effects of amps that are pushed to their volume limits. They do this by lowering the threshold where the tone clips, producing a natural overdrive before the sound comes through your amp. The MXR GT-OD features a selection of controls to help you customize your overdrive sound. Adjust the dials to create more crunch from your strings, or turn up the tine dial to increase sustain and create a stunning howl from your lead guitar. The pedal does not color your tone or add any additional noise to your sound, leaving you with pure, natural overdrive. The internal electronics feature high-quality construction from the ground up, offering you reliable performance on stage or in the studio. The pedal is easy to connect and use. It comes with a Dunlop ECB003 AC power adapter, and you can also power the pedal with a single 9-volt battery if you are not close enough to a power source. Use 1/4-inch patch cords to connect guitars to the input jack and amplifiers to the output jack. This pedal includes three control dials, which let you tweak the output, tone, and gain of your electric guitar sound. Switch the pedal on and off with a foot switch at the base of the device. When the pedal is on, a red LED light lights up. When it is switched off, the light does not light up, and your guitar signal bypasses the pedal to emerge with a clean tone from the amplifier. This overdrive pedal is compatible with a wide array of other gear and accessories. Plug the output directly into an amplifier or plug it into other pedals and guitar accessories to create an effects pedal chain. This effects pedal is compatible with a variety of guitars, including bass guitars, electric guitars, and electric-acoustic guitars from brands such as Fender, Gibson, and Ibanez. Use it with tube, solid-state, modeling, and hybrid amps, or plug it directly into recording equipment with a direct input box.
