Road to Recovery is comprised of songs I have written in the past year of my life when I was getting over a heartbreak, trying to find myself, and decide what I wanted to do with my life. Being from a small town in Georgia, I moved out to California at the age of 18 and decided that's where I wanted to live after a brief visit. Writing music has been an incredible outlet for me, and allows me to share my trials and situations with other people to help them get through hard times. I really enjoy sharing personal and intimate lyrics because people can truly relate to where I have been and where I am going. Music is my passion, and each song takes a spin on places I have been in my life. Grandpa's Whiskey - This was written spontaneously at rehearsal with the guys when Rich Fisanick, my guitarist, began a bluesy rift, and the bass player jumped in. I began to make up words from stories handed down to me by my mother about her Grandfather carrying sugar up to the mountains to make whiskey. The song stuck, and quickly caught on, and became my fans favorite. Who doesn't love whiskey? You Won't Get to Me - This song is about being able to realize that there comes a point in a relationship where you stop taking crap and move on. After glutting for punishment and getting back together with a former boyfriend, I decided enough is enough, and life's too short to keep on getting hurt in a relationship that isn't meant to be. 12 Miles Apart - One of my favorite songs, music co-written by Rich Fisanick, he began playing this tune, and I picked up lyrics I had written a while back, and it just flowed. We tweaked the tune a little, and I modified some parts, but the music fit the mood of the song perfectly. It's all about being so close to someone, but feeling so far away, and though your feelings are strong and both people have such a deep love and compassion for each other, stubborn pride gets in the way and neither person will make the first move...so the distance remains. Back in Georgia - Being back home in the south is always a treat. Getting to see my friends and family after being away for so long is the best feeling. Mostly only once in the summer and once for Christmas have I been able to travel back to the small town of Elberton, Georgia where I was born and raised. Now with my music career, it has enabled me to tour in different parts of the country and make it back home more often. This song has quickly caught on in the south, and even when I play it all over the country in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and many more states, it's still a fun catchy tune that people can have a bird's eye view of being in the south. With good home southern cooking, relaxing on the patio, chilling with my family, and being in such a laid back environment, I always feel at home when I'm here, no matter how long I stay away, this is my home. City Sunset - I wrote this song on a napkin at SNOB wine bar in San Francisco, as I was listening to singer/songwriter Chris Ahlman. I just had this solemn feeling, and images of a city girl walking by without a smile made me realize how many days we go through the motions, and never once enjoy living. Something as small as a sunset that we take for granted and forget that life is full of so many wonderful amazing things, and if we get out from under our shell of the regular schedule of life, it's not hard to enjoy the small things, we just have to make the time. Broken Promises - WOW, every time I sing this song, I almost want to cry...even though I wrote it, the song captures such an emotional issue of divorce, breakup, separation, infidelity, and it's truly sad to think of all the times we thought things would work out between two people, but in the end, it's just not what we expected in the beginning. Through very close relationships in my life, I've seen how hard divorce can injure people, but sometimes, it's worth the decision to walk away and try to salvage the happiness that one person has l
