Activision originally released River Raid exclusively for the Atari 2600 home games console in 1982; however, the company later released the game for Atari 8 bit, Atari 5200, ColecoVision, Intellivision, MSX, IBM PCjr, and ZX Spectrum systems as well. This Activision product is the original Atari River Raid game for the 2600 consoles, and it is not compatible with other systems. Although the game was banned in some countries upon its release due to the violent content, the content is very tame by modern standards. It is appropriate for a variety of age groups. River Raid for Atari 2600 was a revolutionary game in its time.
