Reviews
I think the author was very thorough in explaining the industrys history, terminology and where to go to find more information. I like the writing style. The author provides good information but not over-kill ! The" What Would You Do ?" section is great. It will make the students think things through. The illustrations are good and there is a nice variety of forms used, descriptions that we use on a daily basis for hotel, tours and cruises., My overall impression is favorable. One aspect I like in particular is the review questions and chapter exercises that can be used by the student to reinforce the readings. I like the liberal use of photographs/drawings, web activities and figures., One of the first things that impressed me was how comprehensive the index is. I think the book is very well organized and the chapters are well structured. It takes the student from the basics to the more advanced skills. The author seems to be an exceptionally well experienced trainer. The examples in a text like this are always so critical, and it appears that the ones used are well-chosen and appropriate to illustrate the subject matter., Chapter 1: Your Place in TravelChapter 2: The Internet--Blessing or Curse?Chapter 3: Air Travel BasicsChapter 4: Planning United States ItinerariesChapter 5: United States Airfares and Other ChargesChapter 6: Basic Ticketing and PrepaidsChapter 7: Refunds, ExchangesChapter 8: Accomodations and Rental CarsChapter 9: Traveling by RailChapter 10: Consolidators, Charters, Group Sales, InsuranceChapter 11: Tours of the WorldChapter 12: The Basics of CruisingChapter 13: Cruise Pricing and SellingChapter 14: Setting SailChapter 15: Practical Advice for International TravelersChapter 16: International Air Travel BasicsChapter 17: International Airfares and TaxesChapter 18: International Schedules and TicketingChapter 19: Basic Selling SkillsChapter 20: Customer Service, We have used " Perspectives " in recent years mostly because we could not locate a more suitable alternative. The writing style used in this book is very appropriate for the content. Explanations are clear and consise and concepts are summarized and illustrated well., We have used" Perspectives" in recent years mostly because we could not locate a more suitable alternative.
