With 22 channels, this GPS system will navigate for an individual user or a group of people using the same device. With a rechargeable lithium-ion battery or two AA batteries, you will be ready to go with the Garmin Rino 610 handheld GPS device. Install the battery pack, turn the Garmin Rino GPS unit on and allow it to acquire its radio signals, which could take up a one minute. Use the unit as a radio device, thanks to the 30 different channels available for two-way communication. The GMRS and FRS frequencies promise exceptional connectivity within a wide range. After you contact other Rino users in range, including Series 655T users, the device will save contacts on the unit. Once saved, you can even send your location to other Rino users, including those with 655T devices. You can also link the Garmin Rino to a computer laptop, which enables you to use the BaseCamp software with up-to-date maps for further tracking capabilities. The BaseCamp software makes travel planning simple. Organize your maps and gear with routes and waypoints to plan every leg of a trip. The GPS software displays topo map data in either 2D or 3D graphics, including elevations and contour lines on each map. When you’re finished mapping your waypoints and routes, transfer the data to your devices. A computer loaded with BaseCamp accessories can even become an efficient BaseStation to track units. From the laptop, track GPS information in real time. Imagine how useful this capability could be for search and rescue operations and when cell phone coverage is spotty. This Garmin Rino 610 1 W FRS/GMRS radio with the sizable 2.6-inch color touchscreen gives you expansive navigational accessories wherever you go. The high-tech GPS receiver and quad-helix antenna built into the unit assures that it will determine and maintain your physical position almost instantaneously, even if you’re surrounded by heavy vegetation. The rechargeable battery promises long life between charges. When you need to add more maps to the Garmin Rino 610, the manufacturer makes this a simple task. Garmin makes compatible marine, topographic and road maps available for download directly to the device. Additional navigation accessories are also available, which you can access with a subscription. By downloading satellite images, you can further enhance your loaded maps. NOAA weather radio alerts and sun and moon data is also available. Traveling with friends has never been easier than with the Garmin Rino handheld GPS system packed in your gear. Send your precise location to other people with Rino units via GMRS frequencies, and they will see your location on their map display. It’s even possible to send text messages between Rino units, or you can communicate via the effective audio broadcasting.
