It hadn't been put in a cardboard box, but just wrapped in bubblewrap and put in two bubble wrap envelopes. On contacting the seller he offered me a partial refund to cover the cost of the glue and was very understanding.

Very pleased with my purchase and give 5 STARS to both seller and model.
