Even the best need training, including Sulley and Mike, and in Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc.: Scare Island you help them become "Top Scarers." This island retreat has Urban, Desert, Arctic, and Monsters, Inc. orientation training courses, as well as robotic children ("Nerves") to practice on. Nerves come in different colors to indicate their toughness, ranging from blue (easiest) to red (hardest), and both protagonists employ unique tactics.<br><br>Prior to fraying Nerves, though, Mike and Sulley need to collect ooze (red is five times the strength of green) to fill their fright meters. Approaching the Nerves with enough ooze causes a light on top of the target to flash, allowing you to enter "scare mode" and tap a button to commence scaring. When you hear a siren, it's time to perform your finishing scare. During the process, if the scream canister's level begins to drop, it means you're pressing the wrong button.<br><br>In addition to traps and other hazards, the island is filled with toxic human toys. Sulley uses his tailspin or paw swipe to destroy toys and boxes, while Mike spins or launches a ball attack. Both have special moves: a monster fur flop and a bouncing eyeball pounce respectively. Double jump abilities let them reach high areas and hang on ledges to get to new areas, and other features include trampolines, speed boost arrows, teleportation fling shots, 36 types of scares, and more.<br><br>Monster supplies often mean the difference between achieving an amateur or elite rating. The bag o' calories (monster junk food) increases health by a point and extra life tokens can be earned to supplement the initial three. Medals (bronze, silver and gold) are awarded for scaring Nerves and collecting tokens, and monster mailboxes provide tips and information during gameplay.
