Product Information
Paris, July 1942: Sarah, a ten year-old girl, is brutally arrested with her family by the French police in the Vel' d'Hiv' roundup, but not before she locks her younger brother in a cupboard in the family's apartment, thinking that she will be back within a few hours. Paris, May 2002: On Vel' d'Hiv's 60th anniversary, journalist Julia Jarmond is asked to write an article about this black day in France's past. Through her contemporary investigation, she stumbles onto a trail of long-hidden family secrets that connect her to Sarah. Julia finds herself compelled to retrace the girl's ordeal, from that terrible term in the Vel d'Hiv', to the camps, and beyond. As she probes into Sarah's past, she begins to question her own place in France, and to reevaluate her marriage and her life. Tatiana de Rosnay offers us a brilliantly subtle, compelling portrait of France under occupation and reveals the taboos and silence that surround this painful episode.

Sarah's Key opens a door into this heartbreaking WWII episode that's been cloaked in silence, making it intensely real and affecting., "Polly Stone's delivery of Sarah's story is rivitng with its spare emotional power." - AudioFile Magazine, "This is a remarkable historical novel, a book which brings to light a disturbing and deliberately hidden aspect of French behavior towards Jews during World War II. LikeSophie's Choice, it's a book that impresses itself upon one's heart and soul forever." Naomi Ragen, author ofThe Saturday WifeandThe Covenant "Sarah's Keyunlocks the star crossed, heart thumping story of an American journalist in Paris and the 60-year-old secret that could destroy her marriage. This book will stay on your mind long after it's back on the shelf." Risa Miller, author ofWelcome to Heavenly Heights, The story is heart-wrenching, and Polly Stone gives an excellent performance, keeping a low-key tone through descriptions of horror that would elicit excessive dramatics from a less talented performer., "This is a remarkable historical novel, a book which brings to light a disturbing and deliberately hidden aspect of French behavior towards Jews during World War II. - u***n (116)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThis seller has my most enthusiastic recommendation! Not only is the piece clean, perfect, and as described, the seller has packaged it carefully, with extra padding to protect from harm --- as though it's a 1,000 dollar piece, not a 10 dollar one. We are most impressed!!! Thank you.! It was shipped promptly, arrived on time and the seller has created a real value because of the care taken. Everything about this is beautiful!!!
- h***2 (348)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufReceived the purse today and it’s better than the pics or description - I love it! The seller took the time to wrap in tissue paper, then plastic before putting it in a box. Best seller!!!
- 4***a (1519)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThe most careful packing job I have ever seen! Double boxed and securely wrapped in numerous layers. You could drop the mug off the top of a building and it would survive intact. Delicate item exactly as described, beautiful! A thoroughly satisfactory transaction. Excellent seller. Many thanks!
