Through several other popular Castlevania video games, you know some of the sinister forces and grave threats that exist in this murky universe. Continuing the tradition set by titles like Castlevania: Symphony of Night, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Castlevania: Lament of Sorrow, this latest is full of tension and terror with improved gameplay and more involved character growth. Adding to the integrity of the experience, artist Ayami Kojima and composer Michiru Yamane have returned to ensure that the tone and quality of the franchise remain intact. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, developed by Konami and IGA, brings you back to this dark and complex world and puts you face to face with some of the biggest challenges yet. In this video game for the Xbox, you play as Hector, a Devil Forgemaster who used to work for Dracula but became disillusioned with his brutal practices. Trying to live in peace among the humans in Castlevania, Hector is betrayed by a fellow Forgemaster named Isaac in a series of events that leads to his girlfriend being accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. This engaging RPG puts you inside Hector’s head as you navigate his path towards vengeance, meeting several different forces of evil along the way. As you play Curse of Darkness, you’ll become well-versed in what it means to be a Devil Forgemaster. As you progress, you’ll develop the ability to create and enhance Innocent Devils that will serve as your allies as you face enemies, try to avoid traps and solve an assortment of puzzles. The role-playing elements are stronger than ever in this supernatural adventure that allows you to employ unique gifts, powers and menacing allies to destroy your enemies. As you accumulate experience points, there will be changes and growth reflected in your character as a result. You can’t head into battle without a proper arsenal and in Castlevania: Curse of Darkness for Microsoft Xbox, you are more than covered. You’ll get to choose from axes, spears, swords, and a whole host of other powerful weapons. You are able to take advantage of an advanced combo attack that will help you in your defense against creatures of the night. You have a large playing field to explore, with wide, open environments that get you outside of the castle and into more sprawling action. From intense, action-packed gameplay, in-game puzzles that test your critical thinking skills, and an emotional story at the heart of it all, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is a must-have addition to any gamer’s collection.
