Using DigiTech's GenetX technology, you can morph two amp models to create a hybrid amp that combines tonal components present in both amplifiers. You can even combine your hybrid models with others to create even more unique combinations. If you get tired of the electric guitar options, try out the acoustic guitar simulator and bass amps.A variety of effects can be used, including pitch-shifting, noise gate, chorus and modulation, reverb, delay, wah, and compression. There are also many different types of classic distortion available. It includes numerous presets for those looking to plug in and sound great immediately. If you have a favorite guitarist, you may even be able to find a preset that allows you to emulate their exact tonal style. In addition to the 80 factory preset memories the workstation has available, you can store up to 80 more by installing your own Type 1 Compact Flash card. For ease of use during live performances, the unit comes with seven foot switches and an accessible expression pedal. Thanks to its cabinet-modeling capabilities, you can use the balanced XLR outputs to connect it directly to a PA system. When you output the audio to your computer, you can choose between multiple options, including mono, stereo with effects, and bypassing effects. The GNX4 includes a high-quality XLR phantom-powered microphone that you can use to lay down vocal tracks. To complete your act, try using the MIDI drum machine to get rhythms going while you record some screaming riffs. Any sounds you capture with the included 8-track recorder can be used for live recording via the USB connection or saved onto your own Compact Flash memory card for later transfer to your personal computer. Once you're ready to edit and complete a song you've recorded using the GNX4, the included DAW software and editor-librarian software are all you need to get started. Pro Tracks Plus is ready to use with a PC, and Mac owners can take advantage of the Bias Deck software. The unit's drivers also work with Cakewalk's Sonar 4 and Project 5 as well as Mac programs such as Apple GarageBand, Logic Pro 7.1, and MOTU Digital Performer 4.52. The package includes an external power supply and a USB connector.
