Synopsis
Leading experts offer concrete and realistic strategies for dealing with race in schools in a groundbreaking book that should become required reading for every teacher in the country. Which acts by educators are "racist" and which are "antiracist"? How can an educator constructively discuss complex issues of race with students and colleagues? In Everyday Antiracism leading educators deal with the most challenging questions about race in school, offering invaluable and effective advice. Contributors including Beverly Daniel Tatum, Sonia Nieto, and Pedro Noguera describe concrete ways to analyze classroom interactions that may or may not be "racial," deal with racial inequality and "diversity," and teach to high standards across racial lines. Topics range from using racial incidents as teachable moments and responding to the "n-word" to valuing students' home worlds, dealing daily with achievement gaps, and helping parents fight ethnic and racial misconceptions about their children. Questions following each essay prompt readers to examine and discuss everyday issues of race and opportunity in their own classrooms and schools. For educators and parents determined to move beyond frustrations about race, "Everyday Antiracism" is an essential tool. - Contributors include: - Eduardo Bonilla-Silva - Prudence Carter - Thea Abu El-Haj - Ron Ferguson - Patricia Gandara - Ian Haney Lopez - Vivian Louie - Maria Ong - Paul Ongtooguk - Christine Sleeter - Angela Valenzuela, Winner, Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award The groundbreaking book on race in schools that has become an essential handbook for teachers working to create antiracist classrooms In the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement and nationwide protests against police brutality, it's never been more important for educators and parents to ensure they're cultivating antiracist learning environments. I was really excited to get this collection! It's such a large series that buying it individually on my own would have been a real pain. So built in value right there. The seller took a little while but stayed within the promised shipping time frame. Shipping was quite reasonable considering it was a box with 22 books. The books themselves were in good condition, just as described. The seller was very good about communication. I would highly recommend this store and will be a return shopper!

I ordered a set of three books and they all came just as pictured. They smell a little musty like they've been in a garage but other than that everything was good. The shipping was excellent as well as the package, it came with fragile written on the sides which I appreciated. The price was amazing as well. Each book is $20 brand new and I got three for approximately $35. I would buy from this seller again.

They did ship it accordingly when they received it as promised. Upon delivery, I was missing a second book. Again, seller was great and quick to response and Sent me the missing book. I was able to obtain the complete order. Very happy. Would recommend. Would buy again.
