The latex was badly moulded, both pillows were misshapen, lumpy and there were tears in the latex. They had put the pillow into an outer zipped cover which hid these defects apart from the odd shape. The reason I removed the otter cover was because it had a strange chemical smell and the pillows didn't sit evenly, they were totally different shaped. The outer cover may have appeared dusty due to storage or shipping, and the unusual shape or tears likely resulted from a rare manufacturing defect or damage during transit. The slight odor is common with natural latex and typically fades after airing. We've already addressed this with a full refund and are reviewing our packaging
