The Warrior of San Rafael is a historical fiction novel written by Helen M. Roberts. The story is set in the late 18th century in the Mission San Rafael, a Spanish mission in California. The novel follows the life of a young Native American boy named Kwa'ntu who is taken from his tribe and brought to the mission to be educated and converted to Christianity.Kwa'ntu faces many challenges as he struggles to adapt to his new life in the mission. He begins to question the motives of the Spanish priests and their attempts to convert the Native Americans. Kwa'ntu soon finds himself torn between his loyalty to the mission and his loyalty to his people.The novel is a poignant portrayal of the clash of cultures and the struggle for identity in colonial California. It is a tale of bravery, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the Native American people.
