Synopsis
This book marks the centenary of the discovery of the electron by J.J. Thomson in 1897, one of the great turning points in the history of scientific ideas. In this book the discussion moves from the historical context of the discovery of the electron and its basic properties, to the Dirac equation, bonding in condensed matter, Fermi and non-Fermi liquids, quantum order, superconductivity, heavy, coherent and composite electrons, and the role of the electron in the cosmos, with each chapter being written by a leading figure in the field., This book marked the centenary of the discovery of the electron by J. J. Thomson in 1897, an event which occurred at a great turning point in the history of scientific ideas, and the impact of which on the development of science in the twentieth century has been profound. The electron was the first elementary particle to be discovered. It sets the basic scales of energy and length in chemistry and materials science, and its ubiquitous presence to drive electrical and electronic devices in everyday life is familiar to everyone. In this book the discussion moves from the historical context of the discovery of the electron and its basic properties, to the Dirac equation, bonding in condensed matter, Fermi and non-Fermi liquids, quantum order, superconductivity, heavy, coherent and composite electrons, and the role of the electron in the cosmos, with each chapter written by a prominent figure in the field., This book marked the centenary of the discovery of the electron by J. This book was hard to find and it came in exceptional condition. It came quickly and the packaging was done with extreme care which I appreciated because this is an older book. The seller took great care in bubble wrap but also a specific cellophane sleeve to put the book in and then put it in a very padded envelope so not even a corner was affected. The book was even better than de This was a great value for a book I've been looking for and I will definitely use the seller again. Very happy!!😊

This seller is excellent in all ways! The score was wrapped in bubble wrap, then mailed in a heavy-duty, large paper envelope -- great protection! The score is in much better condition than indicated in the listing; it's like new except for a note on the inside front cover. Seller has been excellent in all ways, so I highly recommend them.
