Drove myself crazy thinking it was a loose coax connection.; traced the problem to this choke. An autopsy revealed some shoddy construction. The coax center was resting on the torroid, and the solder connections were barely there. No way could you squeeze 500W through that hair thin conductor. I tried to swap into an existing end-fed setup that had a feed point choke and got poor results. Works great when set up correctly; lots of nulls in the right places with relatively minor adjustments to the long wire.
