The ideas and articles in this book stem from my long and significantly impactful history as a mental health practitioner/administrator, musician, son, husband, Father, grandfather, and true believer in the significant benefits that derive from An Attitude of Gratitude. I am a long-term believer that essentially all of us can benefit from virtually any experience in large part, based on what we choose to do with that experience. Different life experiences affect individuals differently, depending on the choices they make in response. My lifelong exposure to music, influenced by my musically inclined parents, has profoundly shaped my life. They sang in church choirs, and my dad played the drums in a small-town dance band. I sang a lot from a very early age, learned to play the trumpet, and earned a music scholarship for my first two years of undergraduate school at Utah State University. I served a mission in England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after my first two years of college and feel profoundly grateful that my missionary service included being a part of and helping to develop a quartet called"The Mormon Son" which traveled over northern England and Ireland for approximately five months performing well-attended concerts. Stephen R. Covey was the President of the Irish mission at the time, and I feel gratefully blessed to have had some experience traveling in Ireland performing concerts in the area he oversaw.So, what I've chosen to do in this book about the profoundly significant benefits of Gratitude is to include scientifically proven studies, spiritually uplifting messages, inspiring music, and fun-loving experiences.One of the things that I have learned in the course of writing/preparing a book is that most books are now published as e-books in electronic form that can be read on a computer or handheld device rather than as a book. Needless to say, the many references in the "book" I make to music, to multiple forms of information and inspiration, are derived from reading, singing, listening, parenting, marriage, and incredible life experiences over my 81 years of living.
