I would recommend this wedge for anyone with a 13' South Bend with a threaded chuck. Look at the photos. Set the wedge against the gear with the bottom 4 or 5 teeth engaged. Then put gradual pressure on the chuck to loosen it and the rest of the teeth on the wedge will engage as the gear starts to turn providing a solid lock. You can slide the wedge in from the face of the gear and engage all the teeth at once, and then rotate the bull gear into position. I am glad it works well for you...jim

I have a 9" logan lathe, and ended up needing to make a second bolt, spacer, gear bushing and t-nut so that I could mount the original 54T idler gear alongside this transposing gear. Of course now I need to run the lathe in left-hand mode to produce right-hand threads. Eventually I may machine 100T and 127T steel gears to replace this one.
