The Sniper Elite series first emerged on the scene in the year 2005, and has since proved to be a popular title. Sniper Elite 3 continues the award-winning, third-person, tactical shooter gameplay series. In this sequel to Sniper Elite V2, you can choose to co-op or compete with story campaigns, survival missions, and competitive MP modes. Across both long-range and short-range combat, the game provides detailed feedback to the player so you can make precise judgments about how to deal with each mission. Prior to the development of the Central Intelligence Agency, the U.S. government relied on the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) for wartime intelligence and to conduct acts of espionage. Sniper Elite 3 focuses on one such operative, an OSS sniper named Karl Fairburne. It is set in the latter half of World War II after the United States has entered the war. Fairburne is sent to North Africa to assassinate Nazi general Franz Vahlen, uncover the mystery of the wonder weapon he is developing, and track the enemy base where it is being developed. Players take control of Fairburne as the game leads them through vast, open maps that span the North African desert. The main plot follows several acts as Fairburne conducts rescue missions and unites with allies, and his abilities as a sniper allow him to undertake covert operations normal military forces would be unable to handle. Sniper Elite naturally centers on the use of the sniper rifle, but there are a number of other weapons and tools available at your disposal. You will, at various times, have access to both pistols and assault rifles, and the player has access to hand grenades, land mines, and other booby traps. Stealth is also a major component of Sniper Elite 3, and sneaking around the battlefield will be an important factor in your success. You can utilize the environment to your advantage in planning attacks, but it’s important not to stay in one place for too long. Your enemies will be searching for you, and the secret to staying hidden is to stay on the move. Players have to consider when and where to take their shot and must make a kill quickly and lethally. In addition to the campaign, Sniper Elite 3 features several exciting modes of gameplay, including Death Match, Distance King, and Capture the Flag. The multiplayer maps take advantage of the game’s large, open world to create new and exciting challenges, especially in the Distance King mode, a sniping, shooting competition which requires players to out-snipe each other. These exciting multiplayer elements add depth to the experience and encourage replay. Sniper Elite 3 Collector's Edition is the ultimate combat game for the PlayStation 4.
