"Oxford University Press recently added three of the most acclaimed czarist era novels to its Classics Hardback Collection: Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina and War and Peace and Fyodor Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment. Each is a new translation prefaced lucidly by an acclaimed scholar in the field. Both Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky, though in increasingly different yet overlapping ways, stirred profound debates on pressing philosophical and spiritual questions, essentially, how to live, especially in a world of accelerating change." - The Shepherd Express

    Synopsis
Tolstoy's epic masterpiece intertwines the lives of private and public individuals during the time of the Napoleonic wars and the French invasion of Russia. The fortunes of the Rostovs and the Bolkonskys, of Pierre, Natasha, and Andrei, are intimately connected with the national history that is played out in parallel with their lives. Balls and soirees alternate with councils of war and the machinations of statesmen and generals, scenes of violent battles with everyday human passions in a work whose extraordinary imaginative power has never been surpassed. The prodigious cast of characters, both great and small, seem to act and move as if connected by threads of destiny as the novel relentlessly questions ideas of free will, fate, and providence. Yet Tolstoy's portrayal of marital relations and scenes of domesticity is as truthful and poignant as the grand themes that underlie them. In this definitive and highly acclaimed Maude translation, Tolstoy's genius and the power of his prose are made newly available to the contemporary reader. In addition this edition includes a new introduction by Amy Mandelker, revised and expanded notes, lists of fictional and historical characters, a chronology of historical events, five maps, and Tolstoy's essay 'Some Words about War and Peace '., I don't understand it; I don't in the least understand why men can't live without wars. How is it that we women don't want anything of the kind, don't need it?Tolstoy's epic masterpiece intertwines the lives of private and public individuals during the time of the Napoleonic wars and the French invasion of Russia. Description of item would have been perfect for grandchild’s needs. Sizing factor could have allowed growing room increasing added value. According to picture, packing was perfect, shipped Priority Mail. Seller communication is awesome! Their service is higher than what most may have done. I failed to double check my eBay address, item was mailed to the wrong address. BTW Kudos to the current occupants and USPS. Thank you Seller for reaching out and providing me options.

My capsules arrived when they were due to arrive. The bottle was packaged very securely. I have been taking the capsules for almost a week now and they really seem to be helping with my digestive issues so I believe they are working as described. This seller seems to have the best price. I am satisfied with my purchase.

There was a problem with this item. I described theproblem and uploaded a few pics After submitting it, I saw a message that the seller would be notified and I would receive something to ship it back at no cost. Several minutes later, I received a notice from the seller that my account had been refunded in full with an apology for the situation. I was told to simply throw the product away without having to send it back. if only all sellers were as classy as this one. Amazing service. Thank you.
