Product Information
Disgaea 4 continues Nippon Ichi's peculiar strategy role-playing series that combines anime-styled characters and tactical battles. The setting is the Netherworld, home to a prison called Hades, where human souls are converted into penguin-like minions called Prinnies. The story revolves around the trainer of the Prinnies, vampire Valvatorez, who is upset that management took his group away before they completed training and received their congratulatory sardines.<br><br>This kicks off a battle for political control of Hades, with you in charge of Valvatorez and those sympathetic to his "cause." As with previous games in the series, the story is told primarily through cut-scenes in between turn-based combat sequences. The battle phase involves positioning your party of characters on a grid and then using weapons, magic, items, or actions (such as lift or throw) to defeat the opposition. You can also take refuge from battle in Valvatorez's base of operations, where you can create new party members, purchase equipment, and more.<br><br>In addition to various visual and battle enhancements, Disgaea 4 also includes a new map generating mode lets players create and share maps with others online. Disgaea 4 is available as a standalone version or as part of a premium edition. The premium version of the game adds a full-color art book (paperback) and a figurine of female character Fuka, all housed within a custom designed box.
