I decided that with two longer bolts to clamp the "L"s to the horizontal rail, the mount system is fine. The new bolt head goes through the supplied metal bracket (an additional washer provides some extra strength), and these parts slide inside the track. A nut, lock washer and washer go on the end of the new longer bolts and secure the “L”s to the rail. The rubber-bolt part allows leveling of the "L"s.
