R. David Nelson provides for us an excellent guide into the mind of Eberhard Jüngel ... Nelson's offering here provides detailed insights into the great man's thinking, highlights major secondary thinkers, and provides the author's own respectful critiques. Most definitely a worthy read for the student., "It is a sign of the strength and potential of the field that this text is able to point to future applications of Jüngel's work even while acknowledging its limitations and legislating between various debates. Although Nelson introduces some caveats, this text does underscore fulsomely that Eberhard Jüngel still "has much to say to us."" -- Reading Religion "R. Accessible, engaging and insightful, Nelson's expert account of Jüngel's formative intellectual world and development, as well as his highly instructive "field notes" to several of Jüngel's most import texts will prove an invaluable guide to students and future readers of this important and influential - if often perplexing - modern European theologian." -- PHILIP G. ZIEGLER, UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN, UK "Eberhard Jüngel is among the most powerful Christian thinkers of our era. In this splendid new work, R. David Nelson offers a sure and reliable guide to the thought of this modern master. His treatment of Jüngel's relevance for ecclesiology and Protestant-Catholic ecumenism is unsurpassed." -- JOSEPH MANGINA, WYCLIFFE COLLEGE, CANADA "Sometimes the thought of a major theologian needs to be distilled by an expert if it is to be appreciated by future generations - and all the more so when the reader is confronted with a variety of works, whose contexts may no longer be understood, and does not know where to begin. Fortunately, David Nelson has provided just what is needed with respect to Eberhard Jüngel - a reliable guidebook to one of the major theologians of the twentieth century." -- JOHN BETZ, UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME, USA, "David Nelson here offers a wonderful entrée into the life and work of Eberhard Jüngel. Synopsis
This volume offers an up-to-date introduction to Eberhard J ngel's intellectual formation, publications and influence. J ngel is one of the most original and influential Protestant theologians to emerge after Karl Barth, and his theology has received fresh interest of late from systematic theologians, biblical scholars and historians of modern Christian thought. R. David Nelson guides the reader through the figures, movements and conceptual developments in the background of J ngel's thought. By introducing J ngel's four major monographs and eleven of his key essays, Nelson is able to assess a number of themes prominent in J ngel's theology, and to summarize the achievements, challenges, and prospects of his theological contribution. This comprehensive introduction will help the inquisitive student to engage with J ngel's thought., This volume offers an up-to-date introduction to Eberhard Jüngel's intellectual formation, publications and influence. - r***g (245)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufBook was "nearly new" and "as described" in listing. The advertised price was fair and a good value. Unfortunately, the seller's shipping partner was very slow to get the book packaged and shipped. Shipping took too long, and the tracking info gave no reliable info on shipping date, time in transit or expected delivery. Seller did everything right, but their shipping partner needs improvement. I recommend this seller to other eBay buyers....... just make sure you're okay with the shipping terms.
- e***u (283)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufThe listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.
- a***a (419)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThis 2DVD set is in perfect condition. Cover art and case like new. Both DVDs played with no flaws. Description was listed as “Good”; I would describe it as “Very Good”, basically Like New. Delivery was super fast and packaging was excellent. The DVD case was wrapped well, then put in a cardboard envelope that was sturdy and hard to open (this is NOT a negative!). I have purchased from this company a few times and have always been very satisfied. Prices are great.
