The previous edition's section (part 2) on laboratory assessment of thyroid function has been shortened and divided among two sections. The former chapter 22, 'Evaluation of Thyroid Nodules by Needle Biopsy,' has been incorporated into the new chapter 73, 'Clinical Evaluation and Management of Solitary Thyroid Nodules.'
