If the drive is not recognized in the BIOS, it is as easy as updating the BIOS settings to auto detection and LBA mode if available, and then the drive will be ready to be partitioned and formatted. With SATA 3.0Gb/S and native command queuing, this internal hard drive is optimized for maximum data speeds. Additional specifications include 8MB buffer size for faster data processing, high interface transfer rate for faster system boot-up and quicker screen refreshes, and “Smooth Stream” technology for improved performance for AV storage applications. The Hitachi Deskstar 7k80 has an optional low-power mode to further reduce power requirement and reduce system heat/cooling requirement, as well as an internal thermal sensor to improve data integrity. With ECC and CRC protection, data integrity is enhanced throughout the drive circuits.
