However, when running the tip of a pen across the paper several times, it finally started writing. After wiping away debris from the tip, the pen appeared to be working. Nevertheless, the working lifetime of each pen may be in question. If the pens were very expensive, and they are not, I would probably return them. I am just reluctant to recommend them.

The difference is that the GRIP is smoother on the new model, having NO GROOVES/indentations/cuts... and the TIP does NOT seem as "ROLLER-BALL-LIKE because it ISN'T. But, I was in a HURRY, so it's OK... and I can spend lots of time to find the IDEAL GEL PEN some other time. ☹ It's NOT an EASY task, dang it.
