The Invention of Lynching Vicksburg and the Nation San Francisco and the Nation The Ku Klux Klan Lynching in the Gilded Age War of Words High Tech Lynchings: Lynching in the Age of National Journalism Epilogue
Synopsis
A ground breaking study of extralegal violence that considers the changing meaning and use of the term "lynching" throughout American history., The U.S. is the most violent industrialized country in the world, and lynching - that is, murder endorsed by the community - may be a key to understanding America's heritage of violence and perhaps point to solutions that can eradicate it. While lynchings are predominantly racial in tone and motive, Christopher Waldrep's sweeping study of the meaning and uses of lynching from the colonial period to the present reveals that the definition of the term has shifted dramatically over time, and that the victims and perpetuators of lynching were as diverse as its many meanings. By examining lynching from a comparative and temporal perspective, Waldrep teaches us important lessons not only about racial violence in America, but about the ways in which communities define and justify crime and the punishment of its criminals.

I ordered three items from this seller, and one was damaged in transit (the seller is not at fault for this). However the seller very quickly righted everything, communicating with me the entire time. The other two items were in perfect condition, arrived on time, and were exactly as described. They were very quick to fix what was wrong, and were very polite about the entire thing. I will be buying from them again in the future.

The seller Orion Tech LLC is one of my occasional shopping sites. This purchase I had a problem, the only one so far. The books were packed well, shipped quickly and just as described. But this was not the book I ordered. I sent two photos of the book received and the ISBN code and I received a prompt refund. I bought two books the third book was free! I am still delighted being an Orion Tech Books customer and will be shopping at Orion Tech Books in the future. Thank you.
