After some research, I decided not to spend the $2,500 dollars to fix the situation at this time. After reading about the bypass I was doubtful and skeptical. After 15 minutes of trying to unplug the factory hookups, I finally was able to install the bypass. With my eyes closed and holding my breath, I started the car. I am pleased to announce that it WORKED!!! No more lights!

The included seatbelt emulator does not install on my Gen 1 mini. Not according to the way the instructions are written anyway. Those seems to be for Gen 2 Minis with the large yellow wire connector block underneath the seat. Mine has 4 separate connectors under the seats. I will handle that separately, but I'm glad that the airbag light is out now.
