The mouthpiece is measured where the flat bar begins and does NOT include the tiny curve at each end where it attaches to the shank. But even if you include that little curve in the measurement it is still not 4-1/2”. The seller has not responded to my concern about receiving the incorrect size bit - this is not what was advertised.
