In the Nintendo 64 (N64) game, Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth, which was released by Hudson Soft (Electro Brain in North America) in 1998, the Earth is being attacked by mechanical aliens, the Zeograd Army, and you must save the planet. Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth is a single-player game that features top down 3D scrolling action. You will face a large number of robots, space ships, and gunfire as you race to collect weapons and destroy every alien in sight. You choose three different ships with differing weaponry and speed, and there are six different battlefields. Some locales are metal surfaces, some are natural, but all of them push your limits. Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth for the Nintendo 64 pits you against huge bombers, deadly bosses, and giant robots in two different game modes. The graphics include detailed backgrounds, realistic space ships, and easy to understand gameplay. No matter what your gaming level is, the three different difficulty settings let you play at your own pace. It is the year 2098 and mankind has been attacked by the Zeograd, an army from a hostile planet in another galaxy. Commander Parker Deehan of Special Interception Airforce (that’s you) has been deployed to pilot the F98 Star Soldier fighter craft on the front line. You cannot afford to lose this battle, or Earth will be annihilated. Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth is a recreation of the NES classic game, Star Soldier, and is N64’s only space shooter game. While gaming, you can pick up powerups and ExArms, which give you a short period of almost God-like power. There are many modes of gameplay, including a timed mode where you strive to get the most hits in a certain period of time. This arcade shooter has late 90s graphics, but you will still be immersed in the game by the amazing soundtrack. The music lets you really get into the game. For fans of the past games in the Star Soldier series, Hudson Soft, the company that produced the series’ previous games, added extras and hidden content to Vanishing Earth. For instance, the first boss you meet in this game is the last boss from the previous incarnation. It takes only moments to learn the arcade-style gameplay of this Nintendo 64 classic, and the intuitiveness of the controls means that almost anyone can sit down and defend Earth. While it is single player, the levels only last three to five minutes, so it would be a short wait for the next person in line. If you are trying to play through it alone and need to stop, it is easy to resume where you left off. Just copy down the system-generated password and enter it next time you play. As you advance throughout the Nintendo game, each boss is more difficult than the next, but none are so difficult as the final boss stage. Save up your lives for this one; you are going to need them.

    This was for a classic SNES game that wasn’t exactly cheap, but worth it. It arrived just as described and matched the pictures perfectly. The game was in very good condition and came with an authentic manual, which was a bit worn but clearly noted in the listing.
