Older hard drives can only store 512 bytes of data in each sector. With Advanced Format Technology, each sector stores 4,096 bytes of data.The Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD2500BPVT hard drive also features a recorded rotational speed of 5400RPM, which helps reduce the average latency to no more than 5.5 milliseconds. Latency is the delay in the rotation of the disk before it can bring the required sector under the read-write mechanism. With this high speed, you can move files quickly and easily whenever you need them. Moreover, the Western Digital Scorpio Blue hard drive features 8MB of cache memory. The disk's cache memory is a data buffer system that helps to speed up the process of storing and accessing data from the hard disk drive. This feature gives you a better overall performance.This hard drive offers both reliability and efficiency for everyday computing without sacrificing performance, form factor, or noise level.
