Synopsis

The Exodus, Joshua's invasion of Canaan, Israel's worship of only one God, condemning idol worship of their neighbors' gods all caused immediate hatred; anti-Semitism. This spread throughout the world and centuries. This book covers the last two centuries BC of that hate history. The ruling Seleucid dynasty persecuted Israel attempting to eradicate Judaism. Mattathias and his five sons, the Maccabees, successfully revolted to save their religion and the Temple. Then their descendents, not so religiously minded, ruled and expanded the Hasmonean Dynasty until its demise under the Romans and Herod.

However I would still have kept it but the one I received was dirty, stained and the binder was cracked and broken even though the listing stated it was in very good condition. I contacted the seller about the problem and was offered a $10 refund which I refused as I had paid a lot more for the book, then they offered €25 but I did not want the book and was refunded by eBay

The only blemish is minimal wear on the dust jacket, but that is to be expected on the hardcover edition after so many years. Generally, the appearance of this book is excellent.
