"This is a book that will promptly attract the notice of the physician by its merits as one of instruction, entertainment, and recreation, for it is filled with the liveliest descriptive humor of the neuroses affecting many of the human race, either through the legacy of birth or as acquired by the over-exertions incident to the present mode of living. "It is not only the 'confession,' but the autobiography of one who is able to trace his condition to its true source in hereditary influence and the false conceptions of the duties of parents to precocious children in their infancy and early years of childhood. "Altogether it is a graphic, commendable, and instructive description, by a competent and observing physician, of the heights and depths that can be reached by one suffering under the complex nervous conditions of the neurasthenic." -The Medical Summary, Volume 30, March, 1908 It is said that every angry impulse, every twinge of anxiety, and every pang experienced by the stingy person when parting with their cash, produces a toxic effect on the human organism. Conversely every friendly thought, generous impulse, or hearty laugh, tends to health and long life.
