I suspect this is exactly what has happened here. Despite there being no physical scratches, it freezes in 3 places. There is a quick fix solution but involves skipping over the affected scenes. This meant missing out on several minutes of a 2 hr run length. Sadly this was not in excellent condition as described. In which case buyer beware. There are unscrupulous sellers operating on EBay.
