This book is a very well presented empirical method of structural design. Written for an international readership, the book covers the rudiments of empirical design quite effectively. Commencing with a very rich glossary of relevant words, the empirical rules proposed in the book are then laid out in a simple logical manner over the next ten chapters of the book. Covering key structural elements and components such as: arches, walls, columns, beams, trusses, floor/roofing systems, foundations, connections, lateral systems and building structural system designs; the book explains the empirical design process through a fairly standardised structure in each chapter. In each case, the book presents key issues relating to the structural element, load paths and then the various types of structure in each category. I found this book a very valuable addition to the quick reference texts that have helped the civil/structural practice over the years.

It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. However I had a slight issues with the item(could have been damaged by carrier not sure) but seller made good with a full refund immediately after I contacted them about the issue. I would do business again based on the excellent customer service and would highly recommend seller.
