Synopsis
Inspired by coveted designs and iconic designers, Gertie presents couture-style sewing techniques, 1940s to early 1960s fashion history, and her own special (secret until now) methods for re-creating vintage garments to fit modern figures. This irresistible guide and look book presents a bounty of vintage styles, plus patterns to download and print for three hard-to-find items (the Dior-style Madeleine dress, a chic 1950s sheath, and the Lillian jacket), all in the widest size range available today-from 2 to 20 and 18 to 34, with separate A through H cup sizes., Gretchen Hirsch, aka "Gertie," returns to her roots with a dive into beloved fashion classics-the mermaid gown, the 1950s Hostess Set (think Lucille Ball), the Lilli Ann princess coat-plus a little fashion history, to inspire modern-day style mavens. Sewists, thrift shoppers, and fashion collectors will love making the patterns included in the book, and learning how to reproduce their favorite looks from any vintage garment. The first half of the book is a journey through pattern and couture sewing techniques. Gretchen combines a bounty of sketches, historic images, process photos, and clear instructions to create an irresistible sewing guide and lookbook for the vintage fashion enthusiast. In the second half, Gretchen deconstructs three intricate designs, and shows sewists how her studio re-creates a garment-all so that readers can do the same with their favorite styles. Focusing on just three designs offers a sewing and design foundation in a full range of sizes--from 2-34, with separate A-H cup sizes. This wide range is not easy to find in other sewing books, and more important than ever for body inclusivity. Each garment (two dresses and a jacket) is shown with detailed instructions and full-size paper sewing patterns.

- e***u (283)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzter MonatBestätigter KaufThe listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.
- e***n (392)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe
- 0***g (380)- Bewertung vom Käufer.Letzte 6 MonateBestätigter KaufExcellent purchase. Was able to get all three items from the one seller. Seller was able to bundle all three items together into one package. Items as described and arrived in perfect condition. Good communication around shipping and tracking as items delayed and not able to be delivered by original estimate. Thanks to shipping updates I was able to track the items arriving before the extended delivery time. Thank you for making these items available on EBay.
