I first heard about Bitcoin in the summer of 2011, back when I was studying Business Information Technology in Stuttgart, Germany. Without knowing much about it, the concept of a decentralised money which safeguards itself instantly caught my attention. A year later, after trying out mining and buying my first burger with Bitcoin at a friend's nerdy-tech joint, I decided to dig deeper into the topic. I wrote my Master's thesis in 2013 on the money attributes of digital currencies and have been an active member of multiple Bitcoin communities ever since.As the years passed and the digital currencies ecosystem slowly matured, a number of friends and acquaintances have asked me to use my knowledge and write a book.
