Synopsis
In Kennedy's Kids, Richard Landerman takes the reader back to John F. Kennedy's run for the white house and the effects it has on a brother and sister in a small town in California. At the beginning of the novel, politics are the farthest thing from the mind of Alex Rodgers, whose time is occupied by his jazz band and falling in love. However, his sister Allison's vow to become the youngest delegate at the Democratic National Convention and to deliver their heavily Republican district to Kennedy will thrust Alex into the world of politics. In this coming of age tale, we watch Alex Rodgers and his sister Allison grow up in the midst of John F. Kennedy's call for social responsibility and how this call will change both of their lives forever. We see Alex deal with falling in love, the death of a friend, the loss of a mentor, and learning a secret about his family's past, all as he tries to figure out what he wants to do with his life. Little does Alex know how John F. Kennedy's run for the presidency will provide the opportunity that may affect his life's path.
