The material is rather brittle, so the first time I mowed with it I bumped a tree and the shield broke off in two pieces. The original shield lasted over 23 years, and this one lasted about an hour. I patched it together with screws to a piece from the old shield so I could keep mowing but doubt it will last long. I suppose I could have returned it, but figured it was partly my fault for bumping the tree.
