The Psion Series 5mx personal digital assistant is more than just a nifty gadget; this device is truly a marvel of consumer electronics engineering. The device comes with the EPOC32 operating system, which is also called Symbian OS, and is compatible with Windows 95 and 98 and all versions of Windows NT beginning with 4.0. The software applications included on the device include Bombs, Calculator, Data, Jotter, Record, Sheet, Sketch, Time, and some types of Perl and Python software. The device is capable of connecting to the Internet and browsing the web. You can also use Linux on this device if you install a free software called Open Psion. The keyboard of the Psion Series 5mx is a major factor in its popularity. Its QWERTY keyboard is just like the keyboard on a computer, except smaller, so you can type very similarly to how you would on a computer; the keys sound and feel very similar. The screen displays in 16 shades of gray. You can use a stylus to draw on the screen, which is backlit. Thus, the Psion Series 5mx is the best of both worlds for those who like using a touch screen for drawing but prefer to type on a keyboard with a conventional QWERTY layout.
