Originally published in 1935, Bude's murder mystery remains as intriguing today as it was upon its release almost 80 years ago. Set in the spectacular Lake District, the novel opens with the discovery of a body in a secluded garage. Inspector Meredith then begins what turns into a complicated investigation. In addition to having to find out the identity and motives of the killer, he must determine whether or not the dead man was planning on leaving the country, and if he was connected to the disreputable dealings taking place at the garage. The deeper Meredith delves into the case, the more complicated it becomes. A cast of believable, colorful characters will keep the reader engaged from start to finish., John Bude is a welcome addition to an exciting explosion of classic crime reprints from a variety of independent presses and the British Library seems to be leading the way in discovering forgotten writers well worth reading. You'd do well to acquaint yourself with his entertaining mysteries.

Item was listed as in Very Good condition. Either the dust jacket was already damaged or due to the poor packaging, it was damaged in transit. There was spice of sticky putty on the bottom portion of the book and the bookmark ribbon is in not great condition. Definitely won't be buying anything else that doesn't have pictures of the actual item, or from this shop.

Item as described, in very good condition. But unfortunately it was very poorly packaged, only in thin plastic foil, not good for a shipping especially international.
