"Though the group was short-lived--dispersing in 1977, two years after Yod died unexpectedly in a hang gliding accident--its legacy of meandering psych-rock, exuberant sexuality and long robes continues to reverberate in the worlds of style and music alike, thanks in large part to the massive archive of photos, posters, hand-written ephemera, sound recordings and film footage that Aquarian compiled and captured. By 2007, with the help of "brother" Electricity Aquarian, she'd folded its contents into a published book, and this spring, she'll debut The Source Family, an engrossing documentary full of interviews with former Family members, which she co-produced with directors Jodi Wille and Maria Demopoulos." - Fader Magazine, "Though the group was short-lived—dispersing in 1977, two years after Yod died unexpectedly in a hang gliding accident—its legacy of meandering psych-rock, exuberant sexuality and long robes continues to reverberate in the worlds of style and music alike, thanks in large part to the massive archive of photos, posters, hand-written ephemera, sound recordings and film footage that Aquarian compiled and captured. Synopsis
Extraordinary true story of the Source family and the untimely demise of its leader, Father Yod, who fronted the rock band Yahowa 13., It was 1972, a time of social upheaval and the rise of hippie cults' and communal living across the USA. The Source Family was an Aquarian tribe, a secretive but outlandish group of beautiful young people dressed in robes and diaphanous gowns, who lived in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills and operated the famous Source restaurant, serving organic meals to admirers John Lennon, Warren Beatty, Marlon Brando and many others. This is the extraordinary story of the Family and the untimely demise of Father Yod told through photographs and first-hand accounts by family members.', While the boho scene has never completely disappeared from L.A., Father Yod and the Source Family are enjoying a new era of notoriety, inspiring indie-folk musicians like Devendra Banhart and mega-producers like Rick Rubin. Aquarian s book has become a style bible of sorts, with its dreamy images of the comely cult. "T-Style, The New York Times"It was 1972, time of the cult-occult-commune explosion.By day, the Source Family dressed in colorful robes and served organic cuisine to John Lennon, Julie Chistie, Frank Zappa, and many other celebrities at the famed Source restaurant. By night, in their mansion in the Hollywood Hills, they explored the cosmos with their spiritual leader, Father Yod.Yod was an outlandish figure who had 14 wives, drove a Rolls-Royce, and fronted his ownpsychedelic rock band, Ya Ho Wa 13, now considered one of the most singular psychedelicbands of all time. He surprised many by suddenly morphing from health food restaurateur intomystical leader of what many considered a cult: a group of young people who lived strictlydevoted to his esoteric teachings, unusual sexual practices, and philosophies of natural livingand dying.Still, as controversial as he was to outsiders, Father Yod was, by inside accounts, a deeply loving andspiritually powerful magus who taught his Family to recognize their divinity within and theirinnate connectedness to all of creation. The Source Family s astonishing and moving true story kept secret for over 30 years afterFather s hang-gliding accident and death in 1975 is revealed here for the first time by the Familymembers themselves, offering readers an insider s perspective into this vital utopiansocial experiment.Illustrated with over 200 color and black and white period photographs, this book contains a bonus CD of never-before-heard Source Family music, interviews and changes, including an extremely rare recording of Ya Ho Wa 13 performing live at Beverly Hills High School in 1973...".a mesmerizing look at a time that might as well have been a thousand years in the past...I can't help but marvel that a spiritual movement of such idealism could ever have existed in our uber-materialistic world." Ann Magnuson, PAPER Magazine"The Source Family contributed a powerful chapter to our communal history, and having Isis Aquarian's empathetic recording of it enriches us all." Timothy Miller, Author of America's Alternative Religions", It was 1969, the year of the Manson family murders and the ensuing fear of "hippie cults." But that same year, another sort of family was established, a young, white-robed tribe of outlaw mystics living communally in a mansion in the Hollywood Hills and serving the likes of John Lennon, Warren Beatty, and Marlon Brando at a famous Sunset Strip vegetarian restaurant called The Source. The Source was the brainchild of Jim Baker, a former war hero, convicted felon, disciple of Sikh guru Yogi Bhajan, and health food visionary-a man who evolved into the spiritual leader to more than one hundred apostles who followed his esoteric teachings and philosophies of natural living. "Father Yod"-or "Yahowha" (Baker's new incarnation)-was an outlandish figure dressed in velvet robes or all-white three-piece suits, surrounded by a coterie of devoted women. He drove a Rolls-Royce and fronted the now legendary psychedelic rock band Yahowha 13, whose original recordings are treasured by fans who consider them "one of the most righteous, kick-ass American psychedelic bands of all time." Yahowha's spectacular death off a Hawaiian cliff in 1975 was not the end of the Source Family. This extraordinary true story is told by Isis Aquarian, one of Yahowha's still-devoted thirteen wives, who has maintained a visual, aural, and textual archive documenting the group at every stage of its existence. This heavily illustrated book also includes a full-length CD of a never-before-released performance of Yahowha 13 performing at Beverly Hills High School in 1974.

I got it for what I think is a fair price that I could afford. Shipped really quickly, shockingly. I love this card. It is my favorite Pokémon card with one of my favorite Pokémon on it by one of my favorite artists. I’ll probably get this cracked and reholdered better for display than investing, but this card just makes me so happy.
