In this interstellar thriller, the Lords of Taphinal, father and son, seek to recover the Lady Zenica that they lost in their struggle to create peace. Threatened by the conversion of Earth's digital technology for spiritual warfare, to their assistance comes a mousy scientist, a mother's love, and through Leelay, a woman of Congo the ancient power of life itself. Ma weaves together two love stories the first between Lord Random and Lady Zenica, forced apart by their devotion to the work of freeing societies from fear. The second romance builds between their son Corin and Leelay. Ma recounts the perils, both internal and external, they face in realizing their love, and how that love serves to reunite Corin's parents. Ma combines elements of both science fiction and fantasy, but disciplined throughout by the author's understanding of how love works inexorably to free us from fear. It evolves confidently from the premise that in mastering the threats of the 21st century, men and women must honor and empower one another spiritually. Ma is a powerful modern allegory that celebrates the unexpected strengths discovered in serving each other and the Earth that nurtures us. That third love story is the greatest of all. , The Lord and Lady Taphinal, agents of the Order of Law, traveled through time and space waging war to create peace. When Lady Zenica decried the self-defeating contradictions in that policy, she was overruled and pressured to subvert House Taphinal's research and training programs to improve the outcome of the Order's violent "interventions." Rather than submit, Zenica chose to disappear, leaving her husband behind to raise Corin, the young son that she foresaw would guide the Order out of its cultural impasse. Guided by his mother's love to Earth, Corin intervened on life's behalf against humanity's insecurity. When Corin is beaten back and almost destroyed, life comes to his aid, reaching out to him through a Congolese concubine named Leelay.
