In trying to assemble this sword stand to give as a gift, I found that one screw would not start threading into the threaded insert. After multiple attempts and swapping screws, closer inspection found that the installed threaded insert was not threaded all the way through! I started to remove the insert in order to chase threads or replace insert. Immediately saw that the wood had been split upon install and patched with wood filler before staining.
