    Christmas NiGHTS was given away for free as a demo with the January disc issues of Next Generation and Ultra Game Players magazines. It could also be found packaged with select games during the 1996 holiday season. There are two levels featured, one for Elliot and one for Claris. The environments have been taken from NiGHTS Into Dreams... and received a winter overhaul, complete with snow and Santa outfits for the main characters. <br><br>As an added bonus there are a variety of items that can be unlocked. Each time a level is completed players have the opportunity to attempt to match two boxes with the same graphic. If a match is completed then one of the special items will become available. The hidden items include: Karaoke Mode, Melody, NiGHTS Museum, Link Attack, and Time Attack.<br><br>Karaoke is just as it sounds; players get the opportunity to follow the onscreen lyrics and sing along. Melody is a music box where users can listen to various tracks from the game. The museum is full of still images of game-related items, such as dolls and artwork. Link Attack forces players to be quick as they attempt to fly through rings while collecting balls and bells to form a link. Time Attack features one course where every item must be picked up and flown through in the shortest possible time.<br><br>One other bonus to be found is a Sonic the Hedgehog mini-game. This mini-game has players controlling Sonic as he collects blue orbs in Spring Valley. Sonic cannot fly as the NiGHTS characters do so he must use super jumps often. Dr. Robotnik makes an appearance as well, in the form of the NiGHTS Into Dreams... villain Puffy.<br><br>Although Christmas NiGHTS Into Dreams... is primarily a Christmas special, it also features other holidays such as New Year's Day. By reading the Saturn's internal clock the game will change the game's setting. If the clock is set on April Fool's Day players will be able to use the evil NiGHTS character Reala.
